Inner – Provinces Meeting of Franciscan Novices from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republic of Croatia

Meeting was held from October 8 to October 11 in Medjugorje. Hosting Province was Herzegovinian Franciscan Province of Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary and their Novice in Humac. Nineteen novices participated. The meeting started with prayer of the Rosary, Holy Mass and introduction of Novices. Hosts were introduced first, and then Novices from Trsat and Livno were introduced. Novices had opportunity to meet Herzegovinian Franciscan Province and they first went to Mostar where they saw Provincial house and were greeted by Provincial Fr. Ivan Sesar and brothers from the Monastery. After they were introduced to the events and destruction from the time of the recent war, they also saw reconstruction of the Monastery with the emphasis on religious – cultural activities. Novices went afterwards to Siroki Brijeg, and were able to see huge cultural heritage of this Monastery. What followed was trip to Humac, another monastery where they also met brothers and were introduced to the life of this Monastery and saw life of Herzegovinian Seminarians. On the last day they celebrated Holy Mass in Medjugorje parish church, and on behalf of parish community Fr. Petar Vlasic greeted novices and congratulated them on their life choice, wishing them to sustain on the path they had chosen.

Cardinal Dr. Christoph Schonborn about Medjugorje

New release of “Glasnik Mira” is bringing the words of Cardinal Dr. Christoph Schonborn at the end of Prayer Meeting for Peace with visionary Marija Pavlovic Lunetti, held in Vienna Cathedral on September 15, 2009. To all of the gathered faithful, Cardinal, amongst others, said the following: “ It is a huge gift that Mother of God wants to be so close to her children! She had shown that love at many other places in the world, but for many previous years is showing that nearness in Medjugorje. We can be grateful to God, who has through his Mother, taken so many people in last 30 years towards God’s love, for revealing to them God’s love, and because so many had felt healing and renewal. In sacrament of confession they were able to feel love towards Eucharistic Lord, and thanks to His Mother, towards Her, as well. Reconciliation in families, healings from drugs, addictions, and other miseries are Her intentions. It is a huge sign of our time that Mary in such concrete way, from such vicinity, and so simply takes care of Her children and dwells amongst them… Show what you have received and what you constantly receive here through graces from Medjugorje, reflect that and bring it to others.”

10th International Seminar for Married Couples

10th International seminar for married couples began on Wednesday, November 4th in Medjugorje with theme: “Love never stops nor it becomes exhausted.” In the afternoon hours, coordinator of the seminar Dr.Fr. Miljenko Steko, opened seminar, and then parish priest Fr. Petar Vlasic greeted all the present. Seminar, that lasts until Saturday, November 7th, is led by Dr. Fr. Ante Vuckovic, member of the Franciscan Province of Most Holy Redeemer, professor on Catholic Theological University, as well as on Faculty of Arts, University of Split. This International seminar is simultaneously translated in several world languages.

Anche oggi sono in mezzo a voi per mostrarvi la strada che vi aiuterà a conoscere l’amore di Dio, l’amore di Dio che ha permesso che Lo chiamiate e lo sentiate Padre. Chiedo a voi di guardare sinceramente nei vostri cuori e vedere quanto voi Lo amate. Lui è l’ultimo ad essere amato? Circondati dai beni, quante volte Lo avete tradito, rinnegato, dimenticato. Figli miei, non ingannatevi con i beni terreni. Pensate all’anima, perché essa è più importante del corpo, purificatela. Invocate il Padre, Lui vi aspetta, tornate a Lui. Io sono con voi perché Lui nella sua grazia mi manda. Vi ringrazio”."

Dear children, Also today I am among you to point you to the way that will help you to come to know God’s love, the love of God who permitted you to call him Father and to perceive him as Father. I ask of you to sincerely look into your hearts and to see how much you love him. Is he the last to be loved? Surrounded by material goods, how many times have you betrayed, denied and forgotten him? My children, do not deceive yourselves with worldly goods. Think of your soul because it is more important than the body; cleanse it. Invoke the Father, he is waiting for you. Come back to him.
