CONCLUSION OF THE SEMINAR WITH HOLY MASS AT 12,00

The coordinator of the seminar is Fr. Miljenko Šteko.

The lecturer is the friar Ante Vučković, O.F.M. Born in 1958 in Sinj, as the first live child in a large family. He is a member of the Franciscan Province of the Most Holy Savior with its seat in Split. He terminated his Preparatory and Gymnasium in Sinj and Theological Faculty in Makarska and Zagreb. He was ordained priest in 1983. After having served as a curate in Metković and Munich, he studied philosophy in Munich and Rome where he was awarded his Doctor's Degree in the dimension of listening according to Martin Heidegger. He taught philosophy in Rome, at the Pope's Antonianum College and at the Franciscan's Divinity School in Makarska. He is a Professor at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the Split University and at the Philosophy Department of the same University. He is the leader of spiritual exercises, seminars and spiritual renewals. He is a spiritual companion and advisor. He published several books. He is writing for professional and populist periodicals.

The parishioners of the Međugorje parish will provide free accommodation to all priests during the seminar as they have done in all the years to date. We kindly ask all priests who are organising their own accommodation with friends in Međugorje to list the name, surname and telephone number of the family with whom they have organised accommodation in their registration form. Priests who do not themselves have acquaintances and the possibility of directly organising accommodation with families should make a note of this in their registration form and we will organise it for them.

ANNUAL APPARITION TO JAKOV ON DECEMBER 25TH 2008 At the last daily apparition to Jakov Colo on September 12th, 1998, Our Lady told him that henceforth he would have one apparition a year, every December 25th, on Christmas Day. This is also how it was this year. The apparition began at 9:48 am and lasted 6 minutes.

A new section of the motorway - only 30 km from Medjugorje On Monday, December 22, 2008, was opened the 40 km long section of them motorway Zagreb - Split - Dubrovnik from Šestanovac to Ravča, and this is very significant for the Medjugorje pilgrims. From Medugorje to the entrance to the motorway at Ravče (through Ljubuški and Crveni grm), there are only 30 km , and from Ravča to Split only 76 km .

Christmas Concert – Little Doves of Peace and Magnificat The traditional Christmas Concert by “Little Doves of Peace” from Medjugorje under direction of Sister Slavica Kožul took place on the 4th Sunday of Advent, on December 21, 2008, at 3 PM, in the parish church in Medjugorje. As every year, in this concert took part also maestro Đelo Jusić from Dubrovnik, founder and director of the children’s choir “Little Singing Dubrovnik”, the musician who arranged all the songs sung by the “Little Doves of Peace”, and who composed many new songs for them. Saint Nicolas and Christmas in Mother’s Village St. Nicolas’ feast was solemnly celebrated on December 5, 2008, in Mother’s Village, in the Kindergarten „Saint Therese”. Fr. Karlo Lovrić played Saint Nicolas, and the children were delighted.

Most Loving Father, the example of parenthood,
Teach me what to give and what to withhold.

The Advent Recollection Day for the Medjugorje Guides

On December 3, 2008, took place in Medjugorje the Advent Recollection Day for the Medjugorje guides, who are working with the Medjugorje pilgrims. The theme of the recollection was, “The pilgrimage as a way to the experience of the encounter with the living God”. The recollection was led by Fr. Danko Perutina. About 20 guides took part in it.

The program began at 9 AM in front of Our Lady’s statue near the parish church, and ended with the sacrament of confession, rosary and Holy Mass in the parish church at 6 PM. Although it was raining, the weather did not spoil the good mood and the fervent spiritual attitude of the guides.

Since last year Emanuel Medjugorje - more than a gift shop became a sole representative for Rosary of the Unborn for Bosnia nad Herzegovina.

In our shop you can find one decade chaplet or five decade rosary along with booklet of prayers and pro life materials in different languages.

The eight anniversary of Fr. Slavko death

The eight anniversary of Fr. Slavko Barbaric’s death was commemorated on Monday, November 24, also in Mother’s Village, the institution he had founded in 1993.

Children living in Mother’s Village remember him in a special way. On Sunday, November 23, in Saint Joseph’s Hall in Mother’s Village, in front of numerous spectators, they gave a presentation called “Fr Slavko’s life”. They described Fr. Slavko’s life and his activities, his studies in foreign countries and his coming back to Medjugorje-Bijakovići, where he had founded Mother’s Village. The text for this performance was written by Fr. Ante Marić, and the director of the show was Sister Mirela Kurevija. After the performance, the spectators could also view the exhibition of paintings and different works of art produced by the children from Mother’s Village.

Fr. Svetozar Kraljevic, director of Mother’s Village, thanked the visitors for their coming and underlined that we all need to continue to live in Fr. Slavko’s footsteps.

As every year there has been a mass celebrated at the church of St James. It was packed, says Emanuel. Local school in Citluk caries father Slavko's name so they were celebrating a Day of the School with appropriate program.

We start again!

I know it has been a long time, but here we are again. Those of you who were coming to Medjugorje could here the news in person; we got another baby! Now we are a family of four.

After our son was born we have decided to move from Medjugorje. There was a several reasons but mostly health problems, as the house in Medjugorje had some construction problems.

Also it became too crowdie, as we were living between big hotels / Pensions which were growing and growing, we couldn’t open our windows any more. People passing by, entering house … We moved to Citluk, which is only 5 minutes, rented a nice two bedroom apartment full of sun and air.

Children are happy and I am happy , only is little harder on daddy as he has to drive several times a day to Medjugorje and back. This summer I was not working but now I am planing to guide several groups next year,do some consultant work...

It is time to go back among people :-)

Medjugorje is as always full of different events and it would be so hard to go back and post all info on everything that was going on.But I will put some of the things I find interesting. Like this :-)
