Cardinal meets Marija the visonary!

This morning, in Medjugorje, Cardinal Schönborn celebrated the 9am Mass for German-speaking pilgrims

At the end of the 10am Mass for English-speaking pilgrims, it was confirmed that the cardinal would speak in St James church this afternoon at 3pm.

This is instead of in the Yellow Hall as originally announced yesterday morning.

Cardinal Schönborn, Archbishop of Vienna to speak at Medjugorje...

It was announced in Medjugorje today, at the conclusion of the 10.00am Mass for english-speaking pilgrims, that Cardinal Schönborn, Archbishop of Vienna, and visiting Medjugorje for the first time, will give a talk in the Yellow Hall at Medjugorje on Wednesday afternoon, December 30.

It was also confirmed that the cardinal will be the main celebrant at Midnight Mass on New Year’s Eve, and at Mass on New Year’s Day.

Last night Fr Tomislav Pervan announced that the cardinal had arrived in Medjugorje that afternoon and had spent time in Adoration and then some time at the back of the church in prayer.

As he left the church, the cardinal is reported to have said: “Who could make these things up? Who could invent this thing? Man? No, this is not a human opera.”

Fr Tomislav then said that we should not forget that the cardinal had held an important position in preparing the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

Cardinal Schönborn is one of the most respected experts in the theology of the Christian East and is also a member of the Vatican Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF).

Christopher Cardinal Schönborn, Cardinal Archbishop of Vienna, arrived in Medjugorje today, December 28, 2009, to celebrate the New Year and enjoy a few days of quiet prayer time. On his first visit to St. James Parish of Medjugorje, Cardinal Schönborn was greeted today by Fr. Petar Vlasic, the Pastor, and met with the Franciscan Friars including former pastor, Fr. Tomislav Pervan. Cardinal Schönborn shared that he plans to spend time with the Cenacolo Community and meet with Marija Pavlovic-Lunetti, one of the six visionaries of Medjugorje. He intends to be available to hear confession and will be celebrating midnight Mass at St. James Church on New Year’s Eve.

Annual Christmas Message to Jakov Colo - 2009

At the last daily apparition to Jakov Colo on September 12th, 1998, Our Lady told him that henceforth he would have one apparition a year, every December 25th, on Christmas Day. This is also how it was this year. The apparition began at 14:35 am and lasted 12 minutes. Our Lady gave the following message: “Dear children! All of this time in which God in a special way permits me to be with you, I desire to lead you on the way that leads to Jesus and to your salvation. My little children, you can find salvation only in God and therefore, especially on this day of grace with little Jesus in my arms, I call you to permit Jesus to be born in your hearts. Ivan Dragicevic's Speaking Schedule 2009/2010

Ivan Dragicevic - Ivan was born on May 25th, 1965 in Bijakovici. He is the oldest of three children in his family.

Our Lady has appeared to Ivan every day since June 24, 1981, and has, to date, confided nine secrets. Ivan married in 1994 and has three beautiful children. His family resides half the year in Medjugorje and the other half in the US.

Ivan: "The apparitions have made a big difference in my life - the difference between heaven and earth. For example, I arrange my day now so that even during the day I find time to pray. Before, my life had no meaning. Now, I'm filled with inner contentment. The first time I saw Our Lady, a change occurred in my soul, and in my heart. Before, I often avoided prayer, but now the difference is so great, I really can't describe it. I'm no longer sorry that Our Lady revealed my future. I'm confident and not afraid, because I know who leads me, and therefore, I'm not afraid of death. People in our parish, and all people, should feel that way."

Ivan and his family spend May-September in Medjugorje and the rest of the year in the US spreading Our Lady's messages in parishes around the country.

During their time in Medjugorje, Ivan's family offers a personal prayer experience for a limited number of pilgrims in their home in Medjugorje.

PILGRIMAGE OF THE POOR AND HOMELESS FROM ZAGREB TO MEDJUGORJE

Christian Association Kup Karmel has organised on November 17th and 18th pilgrimage of about hundred poor and homeless people from Zagreb and few other towns from Croatia to Medjugorje and to the Queen of Peace. During their time in Medjugorj they visited Apparition Hill, they were present at the prayer and liturgical programme in the parish church of St. James, and they visited Mother’s Village. The ones that accompanied this group on their pilgrimage, Fr. Vlado Rukavina, Fr. Mato Anic and Dusko Radakovic, were guests at the Radio Station Mir Medjugorje. Fr. Vlado said how the participants were happy to have been given a chance to come to Medjugorje, to feel warmness and peace of Medjugorje. One thing you can learn from working with them and for them is simplicity, indirectness, authentic life, there are no masks there, he said. It is nice to share those expectations and to be part of that. There are spiritual fruits, said Fr. Mato about the experience of spiritually following poor and homeless. Christian Association Kup Karmel has organised last year the unusual pilgrimage of motorcycles, and for couple of years they have been organisers of Marathon of Peace.

Inner – Provinces Meeting of Franciscan Novices from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republic of Croatia

Meeting was held from October 8 to October 11 in Medjugorje. Hosting Province was Herzegovinian Franciscan Province of Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary and their Novice in Humac. Nineteen novices participated. The meeting started with prayer of the Rosary, Holy Mass and introduction of Novices. Hosts were introduced first, and then Novices from Trsat and Livno were introduced. Novices had opportunity to meet Herzegovinian Franciscan Province and they first went to Mostar where they saw Provincial house and were greeted by Provincial Fr. Ivan Sesar and brothers from the Monastery. After they were introduced to the events and destruction from the time of the recent war, they also saw reconstruction of the Monastery with the emphasis on religious – cultural activities. Novices went afterwards to Siroki Brijeg, and were able to see huge cultural heritage of this Monastery. What followed was trip to Humac, another monastery where they also met brothers and were introduced to the life of this Monastery and saw life of Herzegovinian Seminarians. On the last day they celebrated Holy Mass in Medjugorje parish church, and on behalf of parish community Fr. Petar Vlasic greeted novices and congratulated them on their life choice, wishing them to sustain on the path they had chosen.

New release of “Glasnik Mira” is bringing the words of Cardinal Dr. Christoph Schonborn at the end of Prayer Meeting for Peace with visionary Marija Pavlovic Lunetti, held in Vienna Cathedral on September 15, 2009. To all of the gathered faithful, Cardinal, amongst others, said the following: “ It is a huge gift that Mother of God wants to be so close to her children! She had shown that love at many other places in the world, but for many previous years is showing that nearness in Medjugorje. We can be grateful to God, who has through his Mother, taken so many people in last 30 years towards God’s love, for revealing to them God’s love, and because so many had felt healing and renewal. In sacrament of confession they were able to feel love towards Eucharistic Lord, and thanks to His Mother, towards Her, as well. Reconciliation in families, healings from drugs, addictions, and other miseries are Her intentions. It is a huge sign of our time that Mary in such concrete way, from such vicinity, and so simply takes care of Her children and dwells amongst them… Show what you have received and what you constantly receive here through graces from Medjugorje, reflect that and bring it to others.”

10th International Seminar for Married Couples

10th International seminar for married couples began on Wednesday, November 4th in Medjugorje with theme: “Love never stops nor it becomes exhausted.” In the afternoon hours, coordinator of the seminar Dr.Fr. Miljenko Steko, opened seminar, and then parish priest Fr. Petar Vlasic greeted all the present. Seminar, that lasts until Saturday, November 7th, is led by Dr. Fr. Ante Vuckovic, member of the Franciscan Province of Most Holy Redeemer, professor on Catholic Theological University, as well as on Faculty of Arts, University of Split. This International seminar is simultaneously translated in several world languages.

L'ecografia di secondo livello per la bambina con la sindrome di Down ha
evidenziato un intestino ed uno stomaco più piccoli del normale. Cinque
medici su cinque hanno consigliato ai genitori l'aborto. Loro si sentono con
l'acqua alla gola e nel panico più totale. Continuiamo a pregare.

- Per una ragazza che ha l'aborto Lunedì. E' molto condizionata dal
ragazzo. Lei dice che le piacerebbe moltissimo proseguire la gravidanza...
però dice anche che se abortisse non rovinerebbe la vita al ragazzo e il suo
bimbo non soffrirebbe mai.

picolo Christian.

Christian Calvi è un bambino di 3 anni e mezzo nato a Napoli il 10/01/2006
ed ha un cancro molto aggressivo: rabdomio-sarcoma alveolare infiltrante che
parte dalle meningi.

Uniamoci tutti in preghiera affinchè la Madonna interceda per la guarigione
totale di Christian.

Beata Vergine Maria del Rosario

Cari amici, oggi è la Memoria della beata Maria Vergine del Rosario: in questo giorno con la preghiera del Rosario o corona mariana si invoca la protezione della santa Madre di Dio per meditare sui misteri di Cristo, sotto la guida di Lei, che fu associata in modo tutto speciale all’incarnazione, passione e risurrezione del Figlio di Dio.

 

 

Un pò di storia

 

Il Rosario è, nato dall'amore dei cristiani per Maria in epoca medioevale, forse al tempo delle crociate in Terrasanta. L'oggetto che serve alla recita di questa preghiera, cioè la corona, è di origine molto antica. Gli anacoreti orientali usavano pietruzze per contare il numero delle preghiere vocali. Nei conventi medioevali i fratelli laici, dispensati dalla recita del salterio per la scarsa familiarità col latino, integravano le loro pratiche di pietà con la recita dei "Paternostri", per il cui conteggio S. Beda il Venerabile aveva suggerito l'adozione di una collana di grani infilati a uno spago. Poi, narra una leggenda, la Madonna stessa, apparendo a S. Domenico, gli indicò nella recita del Rosario un'arma efficace per debellare l'eresia albigese.

Nacque così la devozione alla corona del rosario, che ha il significato di una ghirlanda di rose offerta alla Madonna. Promotori di questa devozione sono stati infatti i domenicani, ai quali va anche la paternità delle confraternita del Rosario. Fu un papa domenicano, S. Pio V, il primo a incoraggiare e a raccomandare ufficialmente la recita del Rosario, che in breve tempo divenne la preghiera popolare per eccellenza, una specie di "breviario del popolo", da recitarsi la sera, in famiglia, poiché si presta benissimo a dare un orientamento spirituale alla liturgia familiare.

Quelle "Ave Maria" recitate in famiglia sono animate da un autentico spirito di preghiera: "E mentre si propaga la dolce e monotona cadenza delle "Ave Maria", il padre o la madre di famiglia pensano alle preoccupazioni familiari, al bambino che attendono o ai problemi che già pongono i figli più grandi. Questo insieme di aspetti della vita familiare subisce allora l'illuminazione del mistero salvifico del Cristo, e viene spontaneo affidarlo con semplicità alla madre del miracolo di Cana e di tutta quanta la redenzione".

La celebrazione della festività odierna, istituita da S. Pio V per commemorare la vittoria riportata nel 1571 a Lepanto contro la flotta turca (inizialmente si diceva "S. Maria della Vittoria"), il giorno 7 ottobre, che in quell'anno cadeva di domenica, venne estesa nel 1716 alla Chiesa universale, e fissata definitivamente al 7 ottobre da S. Pio X nel 1913. La "festa del santissimo Rosario", com'era chiamata prima della riforma del calendario del 1960, compendia in certo senso tutte le feste della Madonna e insieme i misteri di Gesù, ai quali Maria fu associata, con la meditazione di quindici momenti della vita di Maria e di Gesù.

 

In questo giorno particolare, sarebbe bello che tutti recitassimo il Santo Rosario,chiedendo alla Nostra Mamma Celeste le grazie necessarie alla nostra vita, affidando a Lei tutti i nostri dispiaceri, sofferenze, perplessità, dolori, ma anche tutte le nostre gioie.

Vorrei pregare insieme a voi questa bellissima preghiera, che sicuramente abbiamo recitato tutti domenica scorsa in occasione della Suppluca della Madonna del Rosario di Pompei, recitata i tutte le nostre Chiese:

 

O Rosario benedetto di Maria; Catena dolce che ci rannodi a Dio; Vincolo di amore che ci unisci agli Angeli; Torre di salvezza negli assalti d'inferno; Porto sicuro nel comune naufragio, noi non ti lasceremo mai più. Tu ci sarai conforto nell'ora di agonia; a te l'ultimo bacio della vita che si spegne. E l'ultimo accento delle smorte labbra sarà il nome tuo soave, Regina del Rosario della Valle di Pompei, o Madre nostra cara, o unico Rifugio dei peccatori, o sovrana Consolatrice dei mesti. Sii ovunque benedetta, oggi e sempre, in terra e in cielo. Così sia.
