Amongst many experiences of various pilgrims, many of which remain hidden from the public, we still meet every day those who witness in public about many graces that they received through Our Lady’s intercession. That is the case of married couple Aida and Javier Eskildsen, pilgrims from Panama, who arrived to Medjugorje in thanksgiving for the gift of the child that they received after nine years of marriage. Javier arrived to Medjugorje for the first time in 1988, he was raised in the spirit of the Catholic Church but he was not present in the life of the Church at all. He witnesses: “We got married on June 24th, 1993 exactly on the same day when Our Lady first appeared in Medjugorje. For the first nine years we were unable to have children. My mother, who used to come to Medjugorje as a pilgrim, insisted that we come again here. And so, we arrived in October 2002, this time with a special intention, and it was 14 years after I came here for the first time. We climbed the Hill of Apparitions and Cross Mountain in the prayer. Up to that time, we visited many doctors, they did not say to us that we were unable to have children, but we seemed not to be able to get one. Upon our return back home, October 8, 2002, we found out that Aida was pregnant. We both deeply believe that we got our child through Our Lady’s intercession.”
Their baby boy, Wilfred Mateo was born on June 2, 2003. Their pilgrimage to Medjugorje this year is thanksgiving to Our Lady for all of the graces they have received. “Medjugorje and Our Lady of Medjugorje are well known in Panama. All of these years people have been coming here, we have monthly bulletin that publishes Our Lady’s messages. Personally, we can witness that here one can feel peace and invitation to conversion. We are especially thrilled with celebration of Holy Eucharist, prayer of Rosary and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. We can feel Our Lady’s presence all over the place”, they said at the very end.
